The Australian National Maritime Museum has chosen Frontline to lead a multimillion dollar ICT Infrastructure Upgrade Project. It is one of the most significant investments into ICT that the museum has undertaken.

The upgrade will deliver a new switched network infrastructure based on Cisco technology with Wi-Fi services throughout the Museum’s Darling Harbour precinct, complete videoconferencing solution with Polycom integrated into Microsoft’s Lync2010 Unified Communications platform, a complete overhaul of all server and desktop infrastructure software using Microsoft from the desktop to the datacentre, and the inclusion of a comprehensive backup and disaster recovery solution, as the main featured improvements amongst numerous other infrastructure component upgrades.

This project when completed will help museum staff to achieve the organisation’s strategic goals of:

• More effectively providing educational and outreach programmes
• Giving the Australian general public more access to vast amounts of historical and heritage maritime information held at the museum and in its collection; and
• Creating a more mobile, connected, and agile workforce

It is one of Frontline’s largest Professional Services contracts to date. The contract will see Frontline forming a consortium with key business partners to deliver the greatest depth and breadth of technology specialist resources possible today to the museum. These include:

1. Allcom Networks (Cisco, Polycom – networking and videoconferencing);
2. Antares Solutions (SharePoint Portals);
3. Power Cloud Solutions (Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2010 Education & Learning Solutions); and
4. The Artisan Group Australia (staff assimilation and transition services);

with the ICT technology solutions from global vendor leaders such as Microsoft, HP, Cisco and Polycom.
