Thanks for telling us what you’d do with your server room

July 22, 2011

Frontline is pleased to announce the winners of its recent Oracle Server Refresh competition.

In the competition, we asked you to imagine how much space you’d have to play with in your server room if you upgraded to the latest Sun SPARC Enterprise servers running the Oracle Solaris operating system.

Then we asked, “What would you do with all this space?”

We were looking for ingenious, imaginative answers – and we got them.

Winner of the Facebook vote

Congratulations to Aran Flanagan of Macquarie Group, who planned to build a shearing shed. He would: “Turn it into a shearing shed with all the RAMs we would now have spare.”

Aran won a soccer table.

Winner of the professional choice

Congratulations to Joshua Emblin of White Labelled, who planned to open a music studio.

“I would soundproof the spare space and spend all the money on production equipment, then invite unsigned labels to use the space to record demo’s and albums. That way we would be helping people and giving our staff access to lots of cool new music.”

Joshua won a golf training system.
